I sat down with a friend of mine who sells over $150M/year with wholesale.

Here are his top 5 tips.

1) Don't burn bridges ever

This guy works with some BIG brands.

Sometimes brands leave him to work with one of his competitors.

But a few of those brands end up coming back.

He's glad he never burned any bridges.


2) Small fixes = big gains

For him, a 0.5% increase in efficiency can result in thousands of dollars in extra profit.

The example he gave: optimizing your FBA shipments.

• Using 2D barcodes

• Shipping via FTL

• Negotiating rates with freight brokers

These are all things he/his team are doing to optimize their operation.

3) Reinvest early & often

To truly scale wholesale you need to reinvest your profits.

Especially in the early stages.

He's pocketing millions per year in profit but he had to reinvest for years first.

4) Negotiate hard

He knows you make your money when you buy.

So he's not afraid to play suppliers against each other.

Do whatever you need to do (ethically) to get the best price.

5) Build referral relationships

He specializes in Baby and Apparel.

Any time a brand contacts him outside one of those categories, he refers them to a friend.

This makes his friends want to refer business to him.

And he usually gets a nice kickback to boot.
